Nigeria in Crisis: Unending Terror Attacks, School Abductions, and Shutdown of 41 Unity Colleges Expose Governance Failure.

The CRESTHOPE CARE FOUNDATION expresses grave concern over the escalating insecurity in Nigeria, marked by attacks on worshippers, mass abductions of school children, and the unprecedented closure of 41 Federal Unity Colleges due to mounting threats. These tragic events highlight a catastrophic collapse of national security and an unforgivable failure of duty by those responsible for protecting citizens.
In Kwara State, terrorists invaded a church in Eruku, killing worshippers and abducting several people, including the pastor. This atrocity underscores the depth of insecurity in traditionally safe spaces.
In Niger State, over 200 schoolchildren and 12 teachers were abducted from St. Mary’s Catholic School in Papiri, Agwara Local Government Area. This attack mirrors previous mass school kidnappings, exposing the vulnerability of children seeking education.
Similarly, in Kebbi State, 25 schoolgirls were taken from their dormitories, and the vice-principal was killed. These incidents reveal a pattern of violence and tactical failures, with a lack of accountability from those entrusted with safeguarding lives.
The Federal Government’s decision to shut down 41 Federal Unity Colleges due to security concerns is a stark admission of its inability to guarantee safety. The Take It Back Movement condemns these incidents, emphasizing that no society can thrive where children can’t attend school safely, worshippers can’t gather without fear, and institutions are shut down due to state failure.
Nigeria faces a national emergency, and denial or superficial actions won’t resolve it. The situation demands immediate attention and action to salvage democracy and national sovereignty.
